Saksham School Project - School COVID Corner
The Saksham School Project – School COVID Corner is an initiative spearheaded by the Baptist Church Trust Association India (BCTA) in response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in the context of education. During the Pandemic, Covid Helpline and Support Initiative of BCTA schools for Linkages to existing medical / vaccine services for Psychological Support /Emotional wellbeing was initiated and established. Also economic support linkages to the existing /announced government scheme were done.
Objective and Purpose:
The primary objective of the Saksham School Project – School COVID Corner was to ensure the continuity of education while prioritizing the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and the school community during the pandemic.
Key Features and Activities:
- Remote Learning Support: The project provided essential resources and support for remote learning, including access to digital devices, internet connectivity, and educational materials. This enabled students to continue their education from the safety of their homes.
- Mental Health and Well-being: Recognizing the emotional toll of the pandemic, the School COVID Corner placed a strong emphasis on mental health support. Counselling services, helplines, and resources are made available to help students and their families cope with stress and anxiety.
- COVID Awareness and Safety: The project educated students and the school community about COVID-19 safety measures, such as mask-wearing, hand hygiene, and social distancing. It promoted a safe environment within schools and helped prevent the spread of the virus.
- Community Engagement: BCTA fostered a sense of community and solidarity by encouraging schools to engage with local communities. This included outreach efforts to vulnerable populations and collaborative initiatives to address pandemic-related challenges collectively.
- Teacher Training: Initiatively it supported teachers in adapting to online and hybrid teaching methods, ensuring the quality of education is maintained even in the face of adversity.
