The Baptist Church Trust Association (BCTA) proudly presents “Project Gurukul”, a unique initiative of compassion and learning, aimed at transforming the lives of thousands of underprivileged children living under challenging circumstances.
In the heart of our bustling nation, there are countless children grappling with subhuman conditions in slums, working as rag-pickers or being exploited in child labour. Some, while attempting to contribute to the food effort of their family, are tragically entangled in vices like drug abuse, rendering them vulnerable to various forms of abuse and exploitation. Project Gurukul aspires to be a beacon of hope for these children, illuminating their path to a brighter and safer future.
Our dedicated community volunteers at BCTA have designed a unique ‘Child Development Plan’ that focuses on the holistic growth of these young minds. By integrating this robust plan, we intend to mould these young minds into productive citizens of India, who are aware of their rights, capable of making informed decisions, and equipped with the necessary skills to navigate the world.
A cornerstone of Project Gurukul is the ‘Reach to Teach’ model, which is about reaching out to these children in their own communities, where they feel safe and comfortable. By removing barriers to access, this model provides a platform for these children to engage in education and learning in a supportive and encouraging environment.
The ultimate goal of Project Gurukul is to assist these children in securing admissions in regular government-run schools to continue their formal education. Our support, however, doesn’t stop there. We continue to nurture them through remedial classes and skill development training, depending on age and exposure, to ensure they are equipped to compete on equal footing with their peers. This approach not only helps them catch up with their studies but also restores the opportunities they were initially denied.
Project Gurukul is more than just an education initiative.
