Oxygen Therapy Centre: A Lifesaving Partnership during WAVE II (COVID) Year 2021
During the second wave of the COVID-19 in the year 2021, when the demand for oxygen and medical care reached critical levels, a significant initiative was launched in partnership with District Police, and Local Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs). The aim was to extend lifesaving care to the affected population.
An oxygen therapy centre fully equipped with doctors and paramedics was initiated at BM Ganged School for extending lifesaving care by BCTA to affected population during the Second – Killer Wave of the Pandemic. Many lives were saved and sustained by the centre when the government had run out of beds and supplies under the pressure of an ever-growing killer wave.
Key Highlights:
- Critical Need Addressed: The second wave of the pandemic placed immense pressure on healthcare infrastructure, resulting in a severe shortage of oxygen and medical facilities. Recognizing this critical need, the partnership took swift action to establish an oxygen therapy center.
- Location and Accessibility: The choice of BM Ganged School as the location for the center was strategic, ensuring accessibility for the local population. This central location made it easier for residents to receive timely medical attention.
- Equipped with Medical Professionals: The center was fully equipped with not only oxygen support but also qualified doctors and paramedics. This comprehensive approach ensured that patients received the necessary medical care in addition to oxygen therapy.
- Community Collaboration: The involvement of Local Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) showcased the power of community collaboration during times of crisis. Together with the District Police, they provided essential support, including logistics, security, and community outreach.
- Lifesaving Care: The oxygen therapy center played a crucial role in saving lives during the challenging second wave. Patients suffering from COVID-19 received immediate attention and the critical oxygen support they needed, alleviating the strain on hospitals.
